Item 3. This wonderful bust of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh sat in The Dorchester Hotel in London for nearly 50 years. HRH Prince Philip was thought to have posed for this piece in the late 1940s( 1947-1949).The hotel was purchased by The Sultan of Bruni. He remodeled, sending all the wonderful furnishings and art work to auction which is how this bust came into my possession.
It sat for three months in the den of Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace. I sent it hoping he could tell me who the sculptor was and when it was done. I carried this piece from the private entrance to Buckingham Palace. Her Majesty thought it a wonderful likeness.
Buckingham Palace (Sir Robert Fellows, then secretary to Her Majesty & brother-in-lae of the late Princes Diana ) forwarded a list of sculptors who, over the years Prince Philip sat for. Being a royal and having had so many paintings and art work done, it is possible Prince Philip sat for this piece and doesn't remember. Many pieces are
commissioned for City Halls, etc with the royal family member never seeing the finished product. $36,500.00 Order
